I’ve been sketching since I was a child. I can’t tell you enough that it’s one of my favourite ways to relax. Concentrating on an object and breathing life into it helps me relax. I draw things as I see them and find the process to be restorative. The best thing about sketching is that there is no right or wrong. It’s entirely up to the artist to decide whether or not changes need to be made. Yes, you can make suggestions but ultimately change is up to the artist. Here’s what sketching has taught me:

If any of you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you know that I like to post inspirational quotes. I’m sharing 2 of my favourites today. It’s hard to be yourself when everyone always tells you to be someone else. Why is it that when a person is quiet people tend to shame them. What is with shaming the introverts? It irks me every time I see that neighbour of the suspect on the news… “Honestly she never really talked to anyone.” Pause for effect, wait for it….”wasn’t very friendly at all!” There it is!
