Hi all, tomorrow is International Women’s Day! Let’s celebrate “women’s achievements, raise awareness about women’s equality, lobby for accelerated gender parity, fundraise for female-focused charities.” Or maybe you’d just like to find out more about this day.

First of all, you might be wondering what the 2021world theme is this year. Or maybe you forgot…

Each year an IWD campaign theme is supported around the world. The IWD 2021 campaign theme is #ChooseToChallenge with its hand raised gesture that signifies solidarity in choosing to challenge and call out gender bias, stereotyping and discrimination.

That’s right! You will be seeing #choosetochallenge or #IWD2021 everywhere, or maybe you’ve already started using it! What caught my eye on the IWD site was the missions tab. It’s where you can choose which mission interests you. There are 6 to choose from.

Women Creatives

Women and Technology

Women and Sport

Women’s health

Women at Work

Women’s Empowerment

There are a few missions that speak to me but, this is an art blog so the Women Creatives mission was the tab that I explored. On this page, I found out about ways to support women creatives. This mission is about “celebrating the work of women creatives and elevating visibility for commercial projects and commissions.” You can choose between Street Art, Poetry, Typography, Music, Literature, and more!

Yes, there are different initiatives along with different categories that you can choose from. All you do is find the right one for you, read about it, and if you choose, challenge it. It’s your choice how you would like to challenge it. Whether it’s raising awareness or there’s another way that suites you better, it’s all up to you.

Thanks for joining me, stay well and remember to empower the women around you!
