Signs You Might Have Referred the Wrong Guy

I was once approached by a friend for a paint job referral. Mind you, the paint job she had was still fantastic. She had told me her cousin had done it by himself. The person I referred to do the job was our previous superintendent. He had done some work around our place for purely aesthetic reasons. Everything looked great! We were pleased with the amount of time the jobs took, the cost and with the outcome. Naturally, we referred him. Continue reading “Signs You Might Have Referred the Wrong Guy”

How to Staycation the Right Way

Spring is here, the snow has finally melted. Every schoolyard is littered with soiled mittens and scarves. What a great time of year! There is a general feeling that something good is coming up. The delicious salads, barbecues, taking long walks. There are so many things to do. We do some of these things year round but everything is so much better when the sun is shining and it’s not cold outside. This winter has dragged on for so long I honestly miss mosquitoes!

An Introverts Guide to Staying True to Oneself

Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.
An Introverts Guide to Staying True to Oneself

If any of you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you know that I like to post inspirational quotes. I thought I would share 2 of my favourites today.

It’s hard to be yourself when everyone always tells you to be someone else. Why is it that when a person is quiet people tend to shame them. What is with the quiet shaming? It irks me every time I see that neighbour of the suspect on the news… “Honestly she never really talked to anyone.” Pause for effect, wait for it….”wasn’t very friendly at all!” There it is! I always wonder, how do we know that neighbour just wasn’t unapproachable? It’s all down to perspective. Continue reading “An Introverts Guide to Staying True to Oneself”

Questions You Should Ask Before Clicking UPDATE!

  • How long is this going to take?

I was getting ready to write a new blog post when the dreaded update prompt popped up in the corner of my computer screen.

  • Why does it always seem like it’s going to be a quick update right until you finally agree to it…?

All I see now is a blank screen with one long bar and a time stamp of 45 minutes 🥺.

This post was completed using the WordPress mobile app.

As much as I like this app I enjoy typing out my posts. Taking my time, checking my grammer on Grammarly, choosing pics, you know the deal. If you were looking for a longer post I’m sorry my computer failed me this time. As my computer updates here is a link to one of my other posts about time Give me Back My Time!

Thanks for reading, I’ll be right back!

Mindfulness Argh!!! The Frightening Continuation…

This month of Mindfulness has been pretty good. I’ve been in a routine of meditating every night. It has come to my attention that the more I meditate the better I get at it. Alexa’s assistance has helped me a great deal. I used to listen to 80’s music every night. Eventually, I realized that I wasn’t really sleeping. I had far too many dreams of being stuck in cartoon videos to continue sleeping in the 80’s. Now I only listen to those tunes while I’m wide awake! Continue reading “Mindfulness Argh!!! False Start?

The weekend is almost over and I have had two false starts at going to the movies. I’m ok with that but only because crowded theatres give me the chills. Is it ok to say that? Too late, I already did.

Below is a list of things I didn’t do all weekend:

1. Worry incessantly about the impending work week.
2. Relive the past in various ways slowly formulating a different ending to a strange week.
3. Think about parents paying to get their kids perfect grades so they can get into schools.

Daylight Saving

Well, its Daylight saving time this weekend. I feel that I should share a few tips for the weekend when the clocks spring forward. For those of you who don’t have to go through this basically, in spring all clocks go forward by 1 hour. This is so that in the summer when we have bbq’s we can stay out longer since it’s still sunny outside. We are like birds, when the sun goes down we automatically fall asleep. On the Hunt

I had a fashion image on my mind. When that happens Its imperative that I find the item that is on my mind. Like a lioness hunting for its prey, I went straight to the local Winners store. I searched through all the jeans looking for a very specific pair of jeans. The right colour, pockets, cuff, and texture of jean, just like the image. Continue reading “On the Hunt”

Will it be Legible?

In Mrs. Robertson’s grade 2 class, we all sat and watched as she wrote all 26 letters of the alphabet on the chalkboard. Geoff’s finger dropped from his nose as he stared at the board in aww. She made it all look so easy. Reminiscent of an ocean tide, some letters were far more bloated and stood out from the rest. Then, there were other letters like the lower-case G that dipped below the line as though it was dodging someone it owed money. By the time Mrs. R was finished most of us felt distrustful of her ambition of us all. Who was she to think that we would ever be able to write in cursive, script or longhand as some people called it? Continue reading “Will it be Legible?”

How Will You be Paying?

How Will YOU be Paying Photo by rawpixel.com on Pexels.com

Grocery shopping can be so annoying! Wandering around trying to get everything on the dreaded list. I find it so irritating, I would rather go without a list altogether. Unless I’m trying out a new recipe I really don’t see the need for a list. They bother me because I would prefer to be spontaneous. Am I the only one who finds it annoying that it’s always the same things rolling, spilling or even being squashed by those same other things in my buggy? Continue reading “How Will You be Paying?”

Smile

Never regret anything that made you smile – Mark Twain

Even if I feel silly about doing something, or saying something if it makes me smile or even laugh then it was worth it. That’s why I love this quote and why I write about my mishaps. Sometimes these mishaps are not funny at the time. They may have even brought me to tears as they happened. Yet when I write about them or tell people about them I am often laughing or at the very least smiling. Continue reading “Smile”

Job Hunt

Things have really changed since the last time I was actively seeking employment. It’s scary out there now. So much competition and a lot of networking. Resumes have to be well sculpted to suit the job of interest. Well, that hasn’t changed but, I swear it’s so much harder to get noticed now.

Oh, and when you get the call for an interview you feel vindicated. I’ve been to a couple of interviews only to get a rejection letter in my email box. I don’t take it too hard though. It’s practice, right? Eventually, the right ship will come to shore. Even if it’s a canoe I will still jump aboard, I’m not picky at this point! Continue reading “Job Hunt”

The living room was dark and now it’s not.

I bought a lamp and, I’m enjoying writing under it. In this very room there once was an outdated ugly ceiling fan. Protruding from it were four lights. It was immediately placed very loudly on my hit list for obliteration. To exhibit what it looked like please take a moment to picture this; A 4 headed angler fish slowly being eaten by a star fish. You’ve seen this ceiling fan before, it’s in any home built in the late 70s or 80s. Continue reading “Survey Results”

Christmas Couch Potato

There’s a list of movies that I love to watch during Christmas time. These movies have the ability to stop me in my tracks. Especially from doing tasks that I love like the dishes or laundry.

If by chance I walked past a store that was playing any one of these 3 movies you can bet that I’m going to stop and park myself in front of that screen for the full duration. I would go so far as to convince the salesperson that I will buy the tv if he buys me a not so small bag of popcorn shrimp to eat while watching the movie. Just another thing to pick out of my teeth. Extra points if he gets the seafood dipping sauce too.  Continue reading “Christmas Couch Potato”
