Stage 3 Re-Opening: Food Options

Dining Out Stage 3 Options

What did you do this weekend? Attempts were made to go shopping early on Friday but, they didn’t end well. It usually helps to get the shopping done first thing in the morning especially since it is a long weekend. I’m glad for the extra day of rest and relaxation but we all want what we want. With store closures on Monday, most people buy a few more things than usual. It’s to be expected. That’s why going shopping early is usually best. Mainly interested in eating out, might I suggest scrolling down to the beautiful image of the outdoor patio.

If you’re willing to allow someone to do the shopping for you, here are a couple of options.

1. Even though we are now on stage 3 reopening you can make a pact with a family member, friend, or neighbour and take turns going to certain stores.

For example, Pet stores or even pharmacies; ask around and find out if anyone needs anything from there. An agreement needs to be made that payment will be at the time of delivery though. None of that, “Oh, I’ll pay you when I get paid on Tuesday!” Meanwhile, you went shopping for them on a Wednesday. Don’t imply that you want your money back, state it before going shopping for anyone. If this option works for you be sure to do separate purchases for yourself and the person you are shopping for. That way, it’s an easy exchange of you handing over the goods, and the receipt. At the same time, you get your money back. All good, no misunderstandings! It’s still best to go as early as possible to avoid not finding the items that are needed.

2. Online grocery shopping.

You know from my previous post here, that this is a great option if you prefer not to go out and about right now due to a compromised immune system or anxiety. All you have to do is:

  1. Download the app if you haven’t already.
  2. Place your full order in your online shopping cart. Double-check your quantities.
  3. Enter your address.
  4. Payment method.
  5. Some online shopping apps even have the option to leave the shopping at the door. But still, look out for your delivery if that is an option you want to take. You wouldn’t want to feed the squirrels instead of your family.
  6. Sit down, relax, or use the extra time to tidy up around the house.

When the pandemic started I would only do my grocery shopping this way but, sometimes where you shop for groceries isn’t where you want to buy paper towel or tissue because of $$$. Still trying to figure out how to money but my green thumb just isn’t green enough I guess. There are options to shop at places like Walmart or, you heard it here first, I actually just found this one out last night and I’m so glad. Costco is now one of the stores that you can shop from on Instacart! I know, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Am I the only one who feels like it’s about time? Costco lines are so much worse than any grocery store. I tried going there early at the beginning of all of this but, it didn’t help. The store opens at 10am and when I got there at 9am the parking lot was full already. People were standing in the rain waiting for the store to open. They must have camped out in the parking lot to be first in line. Doing the most, right? It doesn’t matter what the circumstance or day of the week. People go there before work, during work and, even after work. Costco is Costco right?

Now, just like everyone else I too get tired of cooking and cleaning constantly. Working from home has been great but, the dishes, cooking, cleaning, and working regular full-time hours is a constant battle. It’s important to recognize when you need to take a break. So, before you throw out that pan or break that plate so you don’t have to wash it, take these 2 options into consideration.

1. I only recently gave up waiting for the pandemic to end, and started eating take out again. Try ordering on Skip the Dishes, or even Uber Eats.

I tend to choose between the 2 depending on what I feel like eating. Certain restaurants are only on certain apps. Did you know that for a little more money than if you went to the liquor store, you can even add alcoholic beverages to your order? Be sure to have your ID handy though, as it states on the app that the delivery person will ask to see it. I haven’t tried it this option, it is admittedly, more pricey than I like.

2. On a beautiful day, depending on the stage of reopening your area is in you can go out and enjoy some patio dining.

This is a great option if you are feeling stir crazy. Check your favourite restaurant’s website. Some of them are open but only for take out or delivery. There are quite a few that now have patio dining only. Just in case, bring a mask with you, since depending on the restaurant you may still need to walk through to get to the patio area or the washroom. I ate at a patio this weekend and it was a great experience. They had set up a tent, the tables were far apart, and there were so many beautiful tropical plants around us. It was like being in the tropics.

No matter what you choose to do, be sure to keep your social distancing rules at the forefront of your mind.

Have a great day and I look forward to seeing you back next week!

  1. I think take out is a good option at the moment. That way you can have outside food but you don’t necessarily have to leave your house.

  2. So true. It’s good to get back to a few regular activities eh? Hopefully the progress continues and things get better for all of us. Thank you so much for commenting Pooja. 😀

  3. Yeah I feel like if people follow the rules properly we can get closer to normal over time. My pleasure!

  4. Wow ! Restaurants have taken patio dining to the next level! It really gives the customers a fantastic experience. Like everything else though, location is key👍🏾

  5. My friend’s birthday was in June and she wanted to go out to eat. I was a bit skeptical about it, but she chose somewhere that had outside seating. It was spacious and nice, however the heat and bugs were a no for me and reminded me why I don’t like eating or sitting outside. So ready for this to be over!

  6. Yeah, Bugs can be bothersome when trying to eat outside. Where we went there weren’t any around. They probably hid a bug zapper on the patio somewhere. I can’t wait for it to be over too though, patio season isn’t very long. Thanks for reading and commenting. 😃

  7. My husband and I are still very much isolating as much as possible (he is in the extremely high risk category) so if we feel like eating out we do no contact collection from restaurants which seems to work out really well for our situation.

  8. That’s awesome! Did you know that you can even do that for grocery delivery? But just make sure to keep an eye and ear out for when the delivery takes place. Thanks for reading and commenting. Stay safe! 😀🌴

  9. I love dining outdoors especially when the weather is perfect. It gives my wife and I a chance to continue our Friday night dates. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe.
