Distractions… They stop you from doing what you intended to do. Moving you from one thought to the next. Sometimes even from place to place. But what if distractions are actually your heart pulling you in another direction?

I’ve noticed that when I get distracted its not such a bad thing. And that it’s ok for thoughts to roam freely in my mind. Never knowing how it will end or where it will take me. I think that’s why I like being creative. It’s that not knowing and the excitement of creating things that actually keeps me creating. Even though I do crave some form of stability in my life, some of us do need more of that than others. While I like knowing what I’m doing daily, straying away from that even if its unintentional is fun not to mention spontaneous.

But if you are still looking for ways to be distraction free try these 3 most effective ways to overcome distractions.
- Go with the flow, or let it be. But, set a timeline for the distraction whatever you do don’t try to fight it and end up further down the rabbit hole.
- If the distraction is an actual person you can take yourself out of the equation by moving away from the situation. This is not recommended if you are the distractions caregiver 🙂
- Some people free themselves from distractions by using monotonous sounds, or even music. This works very well for me but for some reason when I listen to music with lyrics things go awry. I work best with ambient sounds in the background. For example: the hum of traffic, leaves rustling, or even ocean waves.
Keep in mind, distractions can lead you away from your intended goals. But they can also steer you in the right direction.
Distractions, wherever will we go next?
