An Introverts Guide to Staying True to Oneself

Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.
An Introverts Guide to Staying True to Oneself

If any of you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you know that I like to post inspirational quotes. I’m sharing 2 of my favourites today. It’s hard to be yourself when everyone always tells you to be someone else. Why is it that when a person is quiet people tend to shame them. What is with shaming the introverts? It irks me every time I see that neighbour of the suspect on the news… “Honestly she never really talked to anyone.” Pause for effect, wait for it….”wasn’t very friendly at all!” There it is!

I always wonder, how do we know that neighbour just wasn’t unapproachable? It’s all down to perspective. Maybe we all need to have a crash course on The Truth About Flaws. Besides, since when did being an introvert mean that you club seals in your spare time? Also, why does that word, INTROVERT” sound like a snail disappearing into its shell? No one’s hiding here!

Which brings me to my other favourite quote. Oh, Stephen. We’re on a first name basis here right? You wrote exactly what’s on so many quiet peoples minds. Often times the thoughts that some people have do not leave their lips. They stay exactly where they originated. Besides, have you ever heard someone say, “hey why are you talking so much?” Well now, wouldn’t that be rude? So why is it ok to criticize quiet people?

I think if we all talked all the time, the world would be such a loud place!

Enjoy being YOU no matter what category people try to put you in.

Thanks for reading. My apologies for missing last week, I was busy enjoying the silence around me.

  1. See, I am a talker. Family and other people freak out out when I take time to be quiet! The questions pour in! ( Are you ok? What’s wrong? Would you like something? Is everything ok? ……….. ) In the the end they all say, ‘You were not yourself today!’ I really think I should be able to be an introvert every now and then!

  2. Well! That’s a great point! No one person is always the same thing and we can’t always fit into that same box. INTROVERT/EXTROVERT. Be who you are! Thank you so much for reading and commenting.
