We watched Sesame Street, Harriet’s Magic Hats, and Mister Rogers Neighborhood together. Then in the afternoon, it was the Flintstones, Inspector Gadget and then Thundercats. Eventually, I started going to school for the full day.
On weekends, guests at our house asked me, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” I would answer, “I want to be an artist” and show off my makeshift art gallery. Everyone would ooooh and awwww!
As I got older, some of your favourite songs became mine too. And those books that you read, I read and enjoyed them too. Just like you, eventually I stopped drawing but I still dream of being an artist. Maybe not one that paints but one that uses words to draw people in.
Responsibilities have a way of taking over but you still encouraged me to be myself. Love you Dad, Thank you for everything, and Happy Father’s Day!
